The village has been designed from the start according to permaculture principles. The area is therefore arranged and constructed with the aim of working together with nature. Learn more at www.permakultur-danmark.dk We continue to be inspired by permaculture principles in regard to growing methods and how we keep animals. In our understanding, it is about doing what we can to take advantage of the functions and cycles that nature itself has created.

We therefore strive to build up nature’s resources while at the same time enjoying and using them. We try to create cycles in the nutrients and resources that surround us - and make room for more of the wild wildlife such as hedgehogs, butterflies and bees, as well as the smallest microorganisms in the soil.

Building

Sustainable house building

Most build their own houses or build them as co-builds, where a company does the most difficult part of the construction and you complete the house yourself. Houses are often designed according to permaculture principles, which gives a high degree of sustainability. Houses are built as a starting point from local natural materials such as clay, straw and wood and also from recycled materials. An example of a permaculture design is to have a greenhouse against the south wall, so the house can be ventilated with heated air from the greenhouse, thereby saving energy. The house design must throughout relate to the environment, i.e. Natural resources; water, soil, air and energy. At the same time it must of course be practical and pleasant to live in.

Waste and Wastewater Management

We therefore strive to build up nature’s resources while at the same time enjoying and using them. We try to create cycles in the nutrients and resources that surround us - and make room for more of the wild wildlife such as hedgehogs, butterflies and bees, as well as the smallest microorganisms in the soil. The village has an extensive system of differentiated waste sorting - namely materials that can be reused and materials for incineration. Wastewater is treated in a willow purification plant.
