Everyone who has their own vegetable garden knows how great it is to see seeds sprout, care for and nurture the small delicate plants - and follow them grow big to finally harvest fresh freshly picked/dug vegetables.
We have two large vegetable gardens at each end of the village. Furthermore, we have 2 large greenhouses of 120 m2, where vegetables are grown that require more heat, among others tomatoes, cucumbers, early lettuce, peppers, aubergines and watermelons.
All cultivation takes place of course according to organic principles without the use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides. The soil is very clayey, but we are working to improve the structure and increase the humus content. We make compost from animal manure, straw and/or food scraps.
Many of us are involved in the cultivation, and we are self-sufficient with vegetables for about three months of the year. We aim to over time be able to increase production and become more self-sufficient.
